36 years in IT.
I was often the only woman of color in the conference room. The message was always the same: work harder, prove yourself, and maybe we'll let you in.
I'll never forget pushing a 100-pound AV cart while a white partner walked right past me. When a white secretary tried to help, he rushed over to protect her — the "delicate flower."
Me? I was the workhorse.
